  9.  I was wondering if anyone could guess whats happening here:

  11. I have a 14.4 Internal Gateway Telepath modem which has served me fine lo
  12. these many (2) years.  One day, I leave for a vacation, come back 2 weeks
  13. later and blammo - the modem has disconnected my telephone for at least a
  14. week (based on the last message I have on an answering machine).  The
  15. computer was turned off the whole time.
  16.  
  17. Now, the modem will not  work.  When I plug the phone line in, I get
  18. disconnected phone immediately and the modem will not dial.
  19.  
  20. I have a strange feeling that a power surge went thru the phoneline or
  21. my dog was screwing with the computer while I was gone.
  22.  
  23. Anything I can do?  Is it worth fixing?
